There are two main route options to reach Sharavathi Adventure Camp from Bangalore:
Route 1 (Google Recommended)
Via Chitradurga
- Bangalore → Tumakuru → Chitradurga → Davanagere → Hediyal → Soraba → Siddapur → Sharavathi Adventure Camp
- Distance: Approximately 462 kilometres (286 miles)
- Travel time: About 8 hours
Route 2
Via Shivamoga
- Bangalore → (Shivamoga road) → Kunigal → Yadiyur → Channarayapatna → Arsikere → Banavara → Tarikere → Shivamoga → Sagara → Sharavathi Adventure Camp
- Distance: Approximately 450 kilometres (280 miles)
- Travel time: Approximately 9 hours
Helpful Tips
- Check road conditions: Before embarking on your journey, check the road conditions and weather forecasts for your chosen route. This will help you prepare for any unexpected delays or challenges.
- Fuel up: Ensure your vehicle has a full tank of petrol/diesel before you begin your trip, especially if you're taking Route 2 via Shivamoga, as there may be stretches with limited fuel stations.
- Download offline maps: Download offline maps for your route, especially for the Talaguppa-Kargal stretch, where network connectivity can be unreliable. This will help you stay on track without any hassles.
- Snacks and water: Carry some snacks and sufficient drinking water to keep you refreshed during the journey, as remote areas may have limited options for food and beverages.
- Vehicle check: Ensure your vehicle is in good condition before the trip. Check the tires, brakes, and all essential fluids to prevent breakdowns.
- Emergency kit: Pack a basic emergency kit, including a first-aid kit, flashlight, tools, and a spare tire, in case of unexpected situations.
Navigating to Sharavathi Adventure Camp
- From Bangalore: If you are starting from Bangalore, both routes are viable options. Choose the one that suits your preferences and road conditions at the time of your journey.
- Via Shivamoga: Follow the road signs to Shivamoga, which is a major town along the way. From Shivamoga, continue your journey towards Sagara.
- Kargal Junction: Your nearest landmark is Jog Falls. From Jog Falls, take the Bhatkala route and proceed to Kargal. Look out for a large arch marking the entry point for Talakalale dam at the Kargal entry junction.
- Off-road stretch: After reaching the Kargal entry junction, turn right and drive approximately 2 kilometres (1.2 miles) on off-road terrain to reach Sharavathi Adventure Camp.
- Talaguppa Shortcut (Alternate Route): If you are travelling from Sagar, Google Maps may suggest the Honnavar route. However, take a left diversion at Talaguppa to reach the Kargal junction directly for a more direct route.
- Remember, while the Talaguppa-Kargal stretch may be more challenging, it offers a unique adventure. Follow these directions, and you will soon find yourself at Sharavathi Adventure Camp, ready to embark on an exciting journey filled with nature and adrenaline.
